When you hear the words “Artificial Intelligence”, what are the first four things that come to mind?
- Video content seen on Instagram reels, TikTok that seem real but also feel off at the same time
- Facial recognition filters as seen on Snapchat, TikTok, Instagram, etc
- Chatbot assistants, like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, that sound human but aren’t
- People that built these systems? Wondering who is affected
My Everyday AI Activity
My top 3 AI-infused services I use daily include:
- iPhone (sending messages and having my keyboard autocorrect my typos or words for me)
- Using social media: the algorithm and how it pushes what it thinks I will like due to my past histories
- Google maps (especially when going to school, it will give me my route and it will give me estimated time arrivals)
A Moment I surprised me
Similar to the example in the reading, I think a moment that surprised me (or caught me off guard) was also when my Photos app generated a montage with photos that even I forgot about. It was really nice watching it but it also made me think about how invasive systems can get, especially when sorting through your data.
